Alliance Française is a worldwide federation that encourages an appreciation for all aspects of the French language and Francophone cultures. Founded in Paris in 1883, the Alliance established its first American chapter in 1888. Today there are approximately 140 chapters throughout the United States with over 30,000 members.
In Westchester, NY Alliance Française de Westchester is a non-profit organization welcoming everyone with an interest in the French language and Francophone cultures. We seek to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Francophones and Francophiles of all racial, national and ethnic backgrounds in our local and surrounding communities.
Under the directorship of Pierre-Yves Laporte, the Alliance Française de Westchester offers a wide range of courses in the French language, from the beginner to the more advanced. Throughout the year we offer varied social and cultural events, including lectures, discussion groups, and celebrations of Francophone holidays.
