B1+ - Higher Intermediate Level - In this level you will work to reinforce oral and written communication skills while working your way up to interact about familiar and personal interests, to express ideas, aspirations, and opinions. At the end of this level you will be able to handle most situations while traveling in a French-speaking country and to understand the main points of any conversation with a native French-speaker.

Although someone at the B1+ level wouldn't be comfortable enough to attend complex lectures in French, they should still be able to understand some complex subjects related to their personal field of interest. The vocabulary range of a person at this level would be enough to cope with many difficult situations while travelling to a French-speaking country, however it wouldn't be enough to live in a French speaking country on a regular basis.

Objectives

By the end of the B1 level, students can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. They can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. They can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Students can also describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

At the B1+ level, students should have a broad vocabulary range and be able to understand some complex texts on various topics of interest, as well as understand some short videos or audio files talking about one of their topics of interest.
